| Customer Reviews: Haynes standards sliping. April 6, 2010 Mr. Derek Blake (dublin,Ireland) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Sorry to say but i`m very disapointed with this Haynes manual, tech. wise not too bad but as for quality of the print and pictures etc.. very poor.Overall a very poorly finished product, dark photos and terrible quality paper.
Haynes Focus Manual May 5, 2010 David Corby (Darlington, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Haynes have a very high reputation and I have bought two in recent months. Whereas the technical info is quite good, I have found several points not even covered; "remove this by releasing the two screws on the back" - no screws evident and no sign of how this unit is secured...
Another disappointment is the paper and print quality. I spilt some coffee and the print practically ran off the page rendering it pracically unreadable. In another section I inserted "Post-It" notes in the pages to keep my places, (I was using info on both electrical chapter and internal fixtures), when the "Post-It" notes were peeled off they also lifted the print; not completely but it shows where economies have been made.
So beware, only use the book indoors, no coffee breaks and plain paper page markers...
On balance though, an invaluable help to the home mechanic reluctant to pay high labour charges at some garages for relatively simple tasks.
Its thin for a reason January 8, 2010 Ahh spank me (UK) 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
288 pages this manual v 400 pages for the older model....why?
All photos are in black & white....why?
Recycled paper = good for the planet OK yes (walk or buy a bicycle = better for the planet & you)
Recycled paper = grainy photos with no definition or contrast so you can't make out which component goes where
Recycled paper = stain blotter so don't pick the book up with dirty hands or you will never see that paragraph/photo again (some photos are so bad it wouldn't make any difference anyway).
If Haynes insist on making it as difficult as possible using print media - why not offer a downloadable product in COLOUR..? I'd be your first customer......
